About Spice Village

What makes Spice Village different from other caterers?

Rather than offering standard menus and fixed event formats, we begin by understanding the purpose, audience and identity of your event before shaping the food, service and guest experience around it.

01

Authentic by heritage

Authenticity is the thing we are most recognised for. Where many South Asian caterers work from a single, generalised template, our cooking is rooted in the regional traditions and hospitality our chefs grew up with. Those traditions share some influences with their neighbours, but they carry their own distinct ingredients, cooking techniques, flavour profiles and dining customs — and we cook them as they are actually cooked, not as they are expected to travel.

02

Bespoke and creative experiences

Creativity is built into our planning process, not added at the end. Our chefs and planners work with you to develop menus and guest experiences inspired by your heritage, brand, theme or vision. This could include bespoke dishes, live cooking stations, contemporary interpretations of traditional favourites, creative presentation, seasonal menus and carefully considered options for guests with dietary requirements.

03

Creativity, backed by experience

Every idea must work beautifully in the real event environment. Our team considers the venue, guest flow, service timings, kitchen facilities and the scale of the event from the beginning. This balance of creativity and detailed planning allows us to deliver ambitious ideas safely, consistently and without compromising the guest experience.

Menus & food

Catering, menus & food experiences

What we cook, how far we will bend a menu to your brief, and the theatre we can bring into the room.

Authentic regional cooking is at the heart of Spice Village — menus built on traditional recipes, time-honoured techniques and bold, properly balanced flavour.

Our menus span Pakistani, Afghan, Indian, Gujarati, Sri Lankan, South Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, alongside specialist collections for canapés, mocktails, live food stations and Mehndi celebrations.

From slow-cooked curries, biryanis and traditional grills to refined canapés, contemporary plated dishes and interactive food experiences, each menu is designed around the style, scale and cultural identity of your event.

Explore our menus

We can create bespoke menus around your event vision, preferred dishes, cultural traditions and guest profile.

Our chefs and planners will work with you to customise and develop a balanced menu that suits the occasion, while also considering the venue, service timings and how each dish will be delivered to the highest standard.

The more creative the brief, the better.

Our live BBQ and charcoal grill catering is one of our most popular options for weddings, garden parties, corporate events and summer celebrations.

Our chefs prepare kebabs, tikkas and speciality grills fresh over charcoal in front of your guests, bringing together authentic flavour, aroma and the theatre of live cooking. The BBQ experience can also be paired with freshly prepared tandoor naan and other live food stations to create an interactive dining experience from start to finish.

Our live cooking stations turn part of your menu into an experience, with dishes prepared fresh in front of your guests and served straight from the station. The sights, aromas and interaction with our chefs create a lively focal point at the event.

Planning & team

Event planning & full-service support

The people behind the food — planners, event managers and the network of suppliers around them.

You can choose anything from food-only catering to a complete, fully managed event service.

Our full-service catering can include chefs, Event Managers, waiting staff, crockery, cutlery, glassware, linen, catering equipment, setup, service and clear-down. This gives you one experienced team to manage the complete catering operation from arrival through to the final clear-down.

Once your booking is confirmed, you will be introduced to your dedicated Spice Village Event Planner, who will guide you through every stage of the planning journey.

Alongside helping you create the perfect menu, they will work with you on event timings, floor plans, styling and décor, recommend trusted suppliers and liaise directly with your chosen venue.

Think of them as your event partner — bringing every detail together, keeping the planning on track and helping turn your vision into a beautifully coordinated event. We want you to enjoy the planning process just as much as the event itself.

Every event is led by an experienced in-house Spice Village Event Manager, supported by a complete back-of-house and front-of-house team.

Behind the scenes, our senior chefs, sous chefs and porters manage the preparation, cooking and flow of food. In front of your guests, our uniformed supervisors and service staff deliver the experience with confidence and attention to detail.

Many of our team members have worked with Spice Village for several years and bring an in-depth knowledge of our menus, allergens, service standards and the cultural traditions behind the events we cater for. Your Event Manager remains in control throughout, coordinating the venue, kitchen and service teams to ensure the event runs seamlessly.

From the finishing touches to the show-stopping moments, we can help you create far more than an exceptional dining experience. We work with a handpicked network of trusted event suppliers covering:

  • Theming, décor and floral design
  • DJs, lighting and production
  • Well-known musicians, performers and entertainment acts
  • Wedding planners and toastmasters
  • Photography, photo booths and personal stylists
  • Bridal hair and make-up artists
  • Luxury cars, horse and carriage and specialist transport
  • Firework displays
  • Hostesses and guest-management teams
  • Invitations, menus and personalised stationery

Your Event Planner can recommend the right suppliers and help coordinate each element around your venue, timings and overall vision. Whether you want understated elegance or a spectacular celebration, the possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

Sourcing & safety

Sourcing, allergies & food safety

Where the meat comes from, how we handle dietary requirements, and the controls that travel with the food to your venue.

Yes. All food prepared and served by Spice Village Events is halal. Halal is not treated as a separate menu or special request — it is the standard across our catering operation.

Our beef, lamb and poultry are supplied through Meat Giant, our specialist halal meat business within the Spice Village Group, giving us greater oversight of halal compliance, traceability and consistency from sourcing through to service.

Our halal beef, lamb and poultry are supplied through Meat Giant, our specialist meat processing and supply facility within the Spice Village Group.

Meat Giant operates a dedicated halal facility and is HFA-certified and SALSA-accredited, providing full traceability throughout the supply chain. Strict temperature, hygiene and quality controls are maintained during processing, storage and delivery.

  • HFA certified
  • SALSA accredited
  • Full traceability

Having this capability within the Group gives Spice Village greater control over product quality, cut specifications, consistency and supply reliability — particularly when catering for large-scale events.

We cater for a wide range of dietary requirements, including halal, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, alongside individual allergy meals where suitable dishes can be safely provided.

Allergen information is available for our menus, and any guest with an allergy or specific dietary requirement should be identified during the planning process. Our chefs and event team will review the requirements, recommend suitable dishes and ensure dietary meals are clearly recorded and communicated to the team responsible for preparing and serving them.

Spice Village has a food hygiene rating of 5 — the highest possible rating — listed on Scores on the Doors. Our food safety and health and safety procedures are also independently audited by specialist consultants.

For every off-site event, food is transported in temperature-controlled vehicles, with temperatures monitored from preparation through to service. Our food-safety-trained chefs work to detailed event plans, while each venue's kitchen facilities, access and equipment are reviewed in advance.

This means we can deliver the same safe, fresh and consistent food quality at every venue, regardless of the size or complexity of the event.

Logistics

Event operations & logistics

Marquees, listed buildings and kitchens that do not exist yet — the practical side.

Absolutely. We regularly cater at marquees, heritage venues, private homes and other locations with limited or no permanent kitchen facilities.

Our team will assess the venue in advance, including access, power, water and the space available for food preparation and service. Where required, we can create a professional temporary satellite kitchen and supply refrigeration, hot-holding units, cooking equipment and preparation stations at an additional cost.

Any additional equipment required will be identified in advance and clearly included within your proposal, so there are no unexpected costs.

Simply show us the space and tell us your vision — we will plan the catering setup needed to deliver the menu safely, efficiently and to the same high standard.

Successful events begin with detailed planning and clear communication. From your initial enquiry through to the event day, our sales, planning, kitchen, operations, logistics and staffing teams work from one coordinated event plan.

  • 6–8 weeks outA detailed planning meeting covering the final menu, dietary requirements, timings, floor plan, suppliers, logistics and any special instructions.
  • Complex eventsAn optional supplier meeting at the venue, so everyone can walk through the plans and confirm their responsibilities in advance.
  • Before the dayOur chefs, Event Manager and supervisors review every detail together.
  • On arrivalThe wider team receives a full briefing covering timings, service, guest requirements and allergens.

The key to a successful event is planning, planning and more planning — supported by clear communication and attention to every detail.

Events do not always run exactly to schedule — and that is where an experienced team makes all the difference.

Your Spice Village Event Manager will remain in close contact with the venue, kitchen, service team and key suppliers throughout the day. If timings move or arrangements change, they can quickly adjust the service plan, coordinate the teams and keep everything moving without unnecessary disruption.

Wherever possible, changes are managed calmly and discreetly behind the scenes, allowing you and your guests to continue enjoying the event.

Quotes & booking

Quotes, tastings & booking

What a proposal covers, how tastings work, and how a date is actually held.

Every Spice Village quotation is created around the individual event — we do not issue generic packages without first understanding what you are planning.

To prepare your proposal, we will ask for key details including the event date and venue, guest numbers, timings, preferred menu and service style.

Your customised quotation will clearly set out
  • Food and menus
  • Chefs, Event Managers and service staff
  • Crockery, cutlery, glassware and catering equipment
  • Transport, setup and clear-down
  • Event planning support
  • Any optional upgrades or additional services

Once you have received the proposal, we can arrange a meeting in person or over Zoom to talk through every element, answer your questions and explain how our services can be shaped around your event.

Absolutely. Menu tastings are an important part of the Spice Village experience, giving you the opportunity to sample selected dishes before finalising your menu.

During the tasting, we can include a selection of mocktails, canapés, starters, main courses and desserts. You will receive a feedback form to record your thoughts, which will be reviewed with our chefs so any agreed adjustments can be made ahead of your event.

If you have already experienced our food at one of our restaurants or events, we recommend confirming our services first and arranging your tasting afterwards. Event dates are secured on a first-contracted basis, and waiting for a tasting before booking may mean that your preferred date is no longer available.

Please note: menu tastings are offered as part of our complete event catering service and are not available for food-only orders.

We recommend booking as soon as your event date and venue are confirmed, particularly for popular months and weekends, which can fill quickly.

Your date is reserved exclusively for your event once we have received your signed terms and conditions together with the 25% non-refundable booking deposit. Until both are received, the date remains available to other clients.

Once confirmed, you will be introduced to your dedicated Spice Village Event Planner, who will begin helping you bring every detail together.

Sustainability

Sustainability & responsible catering

Where the food comes from, and where the surplus goes.

Sustainability is built into the way we plan and deliver our events. We are working towards becoming a zero-waste catering business through responsible sourcing, careful menu planning, whole-ingredient utilisation and continued reductions in food waste, single-use materials and unnecessary transport.

Our specialist halal meat supply business, Meat Giant, gives us greater oversight of sourcing, traceability, quality and supply-chain reliability.

Where suitable surplus food remains, we work to redirect it away from landfill through our established community initiatives. Spice Village Uplyft supports food donations, training and employment opportunities, while our No One Eats Alone and One Million Meals campaigns have provided meals for people experiencing homelessness, NHS key workers and vulnerable communities across the UK.

Exceptional hospitality and responsible business should go hand in hand — creating a positive impact that extends beyond the events we deliver.
